Overview
February is the month of "Carnival". Carnevale, also known as carnival or mardi gras, is celebrated in Italy and many places around the world 40 days before Easter, a final party before Ash Wednesday and the restrictions of Lent. Children throw confetti at each other. Mischief and pranks are also common during Carnevale, hence the saying A Carnevale Ogni Scherzo Vale, anything goes at carnival.
Weather
Not as cold as in January but it may reach several degrees below 0°C. will always need to bring your ski mask and goggles. Wweather may change suddenly and turn from a sunny day into a cloudy and windy one.
Snow
The snow conditions in Bormio during the month of February are great. Usually there are few new snowfalls which give the lovers of powder an extra excitment. Slopes are regularly groomed in the night and the first skiers of the day will find a perfect snow ski condition every morning.
The temperatures in Bormio are rather moderate, what allows the snow stay on the routes and the skiers not to freeze. However, winds get stronger in the afternoon and the slopes may become a bit icy. Generally, lower trails do better in the afternoon thanks to snow making equipment.
Skiing
Not too cold to dress extremelly warm. Days of sunny light may be many and we recommend to ski in the very early morning to avoid the crowds of the Italian vacationers and to enjoy the perfect first conditions of the grromed slopes.
